Beyond the party

Koh Phangan island guide

There's a whole island behind the parties — jungle waterfalls, world-class diving, a serious wellness scene and beaches you'll have nearly to yourself. Here's what's worth your daytime.

💦

Waterfalls

Than Sadet, Phaeng and Paradise waterfalls sit in the jungle interior — best right after the rains. Than Sadet has royal inscriptions on the rocks.

🌄

Viewpoints

Hike up to the Phaeng / Domsila viewpoint or catch sunset from the west-coast bars near Haad Yao and Secret Beach.

🤿

Diving & snorkelling

Sail Rock — the gulf's top dive site, famous for whale sharks — is reachable on day trips from Koh Phangan. Easy snorkelling at Haad Yuan and Bottle Beach.

🧘

Yoga & wellness

The north and west (especially Sri Thanu and Haad Yao) are a global hub for yoga, breathwork, detox and wellness retreats — the island's calmer flip-side.

🏖️

Quiet beaches

Bottle Beach (Haad Khuat), Thong Nai Pan, Haad Yuan and Haad Salad reward the effort of getting to them with calm, clear water.

🛵

Getting around

Scooters are the standard way to explore, but Koh Phangan's hills are steep and crash rates are high — only ride if you're confident and sober, and always wear a helmet.

Pace your trip

The smart move is to plan daytime island stuff around theparty cycle — dive or hit a waterfall on the quiet days, then go big for the Jungle Experience and Full Moon Party. Don't try to do a sunrise hike the morning after the full moon.
